New companies with impact

Blekko
"Slash the Web" went public in November 2010 and has gained great popularity. Their goal is to provide excellent search results by removing certain types of websites (see NY Times article
regarding Blekko banning 1.1 million websites). Blekko also incorporates a system of slashtags
which allow users to refine the search results. They also offer an SEO toolbar
and a set of publishing tools called Blekkogear.

Greplin
"The search bar for your life" launched in September 2010 and is dubbed as a personal search engine that allows you to search and index all of your online data (cloud data) like Facebook, LinkedIn, Gmail, Google Docs, Twitter, Dropbox, and more (shared data too), from one place. It searches where Google can't (at this time) and uses OAuth
and other methods so as not to collect or store your passwords. Read the Greplin Privacy Policy
before you begin.

PlayOn
"Download, Click, Enjoy" is a video streaming app that delivers content such as videos, shows, and movies from websites like ESPN, Netflix, Hulu, YouTube and more from the internet (using your Windows PC only as a server) to your TV via a variety of devices such as Wii, Xbox 360, Play Station 3, iPhone, iPad, Android Phone, Google TV, many DLNA compliant devices, and others. You can also view the streams directly on your iPhone, iPad or Android phone.

Clicker
"The Internet Television Guide" makes it easy to find the shows you want from one internet location. Clicker is an index or catalog, with direct links to the programs or movies, on sites like Hulu, Netflix, Itunes, Amazon On-demand, Xfinity, and the television networks themselves. Search results include both free and paid programing. There is also a version optimized for the big screens and remote or wireless keyboards called Clicker TV
and a version for the iPhone and iPad.
